Individual therapy, couples therapy, college students, relationships, self-esteem issues, sexuality/sexual identity, spirituality, life transitions, women's issues, body image, new moms, overwhelmed moms, parenting concerns, history of abuse, identity issues.

Deciding if therapy is right for you can be challenging and intimidating. But therapy can be life changing for anyone who is feeling stuck in an area of his or her life. Perhaps you have noticed a change in your mood, or you have begun worrying more or losing sleep. Maybe you're having difficulty moving forward after a painful loss or are having difficulties in your relationships that you can't seem to get past.  Or perhaps you are struggling to find your direction in life or have lost sight of who your are, and you long to experience life and relationships on a new level.  In all of these instances, individual therapy can provide a safe space to examine that stuck area in your life and learn to move beyond it.

My role as a therapist is to not only provide my clients with support and relief from their symptoms, but also to offer them a perspective and understanding of their struggles that differs from what they can gain from friends and family. In this role, nothing brings me greater joy than sharing in the hope and pride that my clients feel as they begin to move forward in ways they previously feared were impossible.

The first and most important ingredient in having a successful therapy experience is finding the right therapist for you--someone with whom you feel connected and comfortable.  Therefore, I offer a free 30 minute phone consultation to help you find the best services for your particular situation.

The most difficult part of growth is taking the first step, but whatever your struggle, you don't need to go through it alone.

About Dr. Mueller

I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA and am a registered psychological assistant (PSB 37387) under the supervision of Dr. Brett Veltman (PSY 21684). As a psychotherapist, I feel truly honored to help individuals face areas of difficulty in their lives and help equip them to overcome their struggles. I understand that deciding to make a change in one's life can be challenging, and I respect the courage it takes to seek out therapy as a part of that process of change.  I believe that good therapy not only examines difficulties, but also identifies strengths in the individual and in his or her community, and draws upon these strengths in the healing process.  Living a full live involves much more than simply freedom from symptoms. I hope to help each of my clients move beyond "survival mode" to a place of thriving, with greater self-knowledge, a clearer sense of purpose, and a deeper experience of life and relationships.

I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings -- including community mental health centers, Cal State Northridges's University Counseling Center, and Patton State Hospital--and with individuals from a wide diversity of backgrounds. I value the uniqueness of each individual and seek to honor each client's particular context, values, and community in treatment.
