Sometimes in life we just get stuck.  And that comes in many different forms…Maybe you’re a new mom, feeling overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood and distant from the person you used to be.  Or maybe you’re a parent—in any phase of parenting—feeling stretched thin, struggling to balance it all and wondering how you can take care of your family and yourself.  Maybe you’re a young professional, passionate about your work, but dissatisfied with how it takes away from investing in other aspects of your life.  Maybe you find yourself at any stage of your journey, realizing that you’ve lost touch with who you are and with what you want.  I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with adjusting to life’s challenges.  If you’re feeling stuck and struggling with one of these, or in some other area, I want to help you find ways to feel less stuck and freed up to enjoy life…not just suffer through it.

Relationships play an important role during these hard seasons.  You may find yourself around people who try to offer encouragement and support.  You may feel disconnected from people around you, even hurt or disappointed by those who are closest to you. Either way, when life is hard, it’s common to feel alone.

Therapy is a place where you can feel less alone.  It’s a space where you can feel seen and known, which might not be something you experience often in your day-to-day relationships.  Through connection and partnership, you can feel better and you don’t have to get there on your own.  I would be pleased to partner with you.  Let’s explore together what is keeping you stuck and discover ways to cultivate more joy, fulfillment, and hope.

About Emily Schnitger

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT 100110). I earned my M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. Previously I worked as an adjunct mathematics instructor at several colleges in Southern California. While enjoyable, I found that my work lacked opportunities to connect with others on a deeper level. Changing careers was intimidating but I’m glad I took the risk.  I consider it a privilege to walk alongside people as they encounter the most important areas of their lives.

I am grateful for those who have walked alongside me in this process and provided exceptional training. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Prepare/Enrich program. I use these models to help couples repair breaks in their relationships and understand patterns that keep them stuck.  I have also completed Level 1 EMDR training, a protocol that helps clients overcome the impact of emotionally and psychologically damaging experiences. I value the integrated approach EMDR uses to address the impact of these experiences on the whole self: body, heart, and mind.
